Our enrolment is 163 students from Language Enrichment (LE) for 3 and 4 year-olds to Grade 5. Most students are from the east side of Edson and well as from the rural area east of town. Our class sizes are small and we have a relatively large number of children in Early Childhood Services. Presently, our staff consists of ten teachers, seven teacher assistants and a secretary. We have a part-time success coach, thanks to a mental health grant. Services available to us include Family School Liaison, School-linked Team, half-time Learning Support Teacher & daily Leveled Literacy support. We focus heavily on improving reading comprehension through the use of effective teaching strategies, especially assessment for learning and levelled reading blitzes.
All of our accomplishments are important and add to the atmosphere of a “small school with a big heart” but our teaching, modeling and reinforcing respect and responsibility, using Superflex, has been fundamental to our success. We are proud of our students and their accomplishments, thanks to the staff and parents who inspire them.
